US President Donald Trump said that the Syrian people are great, led by a strong and good man, referring to Syrian President Ahmed Al -Shara, adding, “I lifted sanctions on Syria to give the country a chance.”
And Trump signed an executive order, yesterday, Monday, ending a large part of the sanctions imposed on Syria, with the decision to enter into force starting today, Tuesday.
US officials stated that the new executive order aims to dismantle the structure of the sanctions program imposed on Damascus, and it represents a major shift in American policy towards Syria since the declaration of a state of emergency in it in 2004, which will be completed according to the decision.
