The student Fatima Adnan Abbas, from Zainab Preparatory School for Girls, designed a smart irrigation system, with the aim of developing the agriculture process and rationalizing water consumption in it, under the supervision of the agricultural education teacher, Professor Jihan Abdullah.
This comes within the student initiatives in government schools, aimed at harnessing digital technology to find development ideas in various important fields in society, under the supervision of the Ministry of Education.
Fatima said that her project is consistent with the national trend towards sustainable agriculture, and is based on the idea of accurate measurement of the percentage of soil moisture remotely by the (Arbuino) device, and after analyzing smart data, the system interferes automatically to open the water tank and operate the pump when the actual need of the soil, to close it as soon as the moisture reaches the optimal level of plant growth, ensuring the completion of the transplant process in a typical manner, and reduce wasting water wealth.
She added that she has successfully applied her initiative through preliminary models in school and home, as her system proved its ability to control effective, and to ensure that each plant has accurately obtained its water needs, noting that it realized this work the importance of integrating technology in the face of challenges, including agricultural and environmental.
She emphasized the role of her supportive school, as she is a real incubator for this project, as she provided her with a stimulating environment and scientific guidance, which enabled her to turn her idea into reality, calling on the competent authorities to see her initiative, and the possibility of benefiting from it to achieve water and electrical savings in the agriculture process.
