The Supreme Council for Media Regulation, headed by Engineer Khaled Abdel Aziz, decided to file the complaint submitted by the Zamalek Sports Club against Al-Ahly Club magazine, regarding the issue issued on October 30.
In an official statement, the Supreme Council for Media Regulation indicated that the decision was issued based on the recommendation of the Complaints Committee, headed by journalist Essam Al-Amir – the Council’s Undersecretary, after a careful review of the content complained of in light of the media standards and codes issued by the Council.
In its statement, the Supreme Council for Media Regulation affirmed its firm commitment to protecting freedom of opinion and expression, within a framework of responsibility and professionalism, in light of the controls and ethics of media work.
The Zamalek Club had indicated in its complaint that what was published in Al-Ahly magazine included a violation of the controls, standards and media codes issued by the Supreme Council for Media Regulation.
The complaint was referred to the Complaints Committee, headed by the journalist Essam Al-Amir, Deputy of the Council, to examine it, study what was stated in it, and take the necessary measures in accordance with what is required by the organizing regulations.
Earlier, a source in the Zamalek Club confirmed that the club’s management considered what was stated in the magazine a blatant transgression against the club and its fans, after publishing a photo related to the events accompanying the last Egyptian Super Cup tournament that was held in the United Arab Emirates, which Zamalek officials described as unprofessional behavior that stirs up strife and restores an atmosphere of tension among the Pole fans.
The source confirmed that the Zamalek Board of Directors believes that this behavior expresses the lack of media awareness of the importance of calming the sporting atmosphere at this sensitive stage, instead of igniting it through media materials that increase fanaticism and harm the spirit of competition between the two clubs.
