Sheikh Khalid bin Ali bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Vice President of the Supreme Judicial Council and President of the Court of Cassation, received a high-level delegation from the Court of Cassation in the Arab Republic of Egypt, headed by Counselor Assem Al-Ayesh, President of the Court of Cassation and Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council, within the framework of the official visit that the delegation is making to the Kingdom of Bahrain, in order to enhance judicial cooperation and exchange experiences between the two judicial institutions.
The meeting was attended by Judge Dr. Hatem Fouad, Director of the United Nations Regional Office on Drugs and Crime in the Gulf.
During the meeting, the frameworks developed at the Court of Cassation in the Kingdom of Bahrain were reviewed, including rules for measuring the quality of judicial performance, as well as initiatives related to issuing a code of judicial conduct and unifying criminal punishment standards.
Within the framework of exchanging expertise and experiences, the meeting witnessed a fruitful discussion on ways to enhance cooperation in the fields of judicial training, as the Egyptian side presented initiatives that include preparing and qualifying judicial cadres to deal with issues of cybersecurity and digital crime, and the legal translation of judicial rulings and documents, in addition to expanding the benefit from the historical legal references possessed by the Egyptian Court of Cassation.
The importance of preparing specialized judicial references in financial and commercial matters, and exchanging relevant practical applications, was discussed. Within the framework of the strategic partnership program with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, which acts as the General Secretariat for International Standards for Judicial Development, a project was discussed to establish a regional network of supreme courts to enhance communication and exchange of knowledge, experiences, standards and judicial principles between Arab countries.
The meeting concluded with the attendees emphasizing the depth of the historical relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Arab Republic of Egypt, especially in the field of judicial cooperation, and their shared keenness to develop them in cooperation with the relevant United Nations bodies in a way that serves the process of justice and the rule of law in the two brotherly countries.
