Al -Malab newspaper – The Asian Football Confederation has officially announced that the VAR technology will not be used during the group stage matches of the new version of the AFC Champions League 2, which kicks off in the 2025-2026 season.
The Federation affirmed that the application of technology will start from the second round (round of 16), as part of a gradual plan aimed at ensuring full readiness and providing the necessary technical and logistical capabilities in the host stadiums.
This decision comes as a continuation of the previous copies of the championship, as the VAR is usually used in exclusionary roles only, in light of the varying technical capabilities between Asian stadiums.
