We’ve done well within Eight Years – Amosun

The Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has restated that with his administration’s performance within eight years, the State would be the best in the comity of states, urging the people not to relent in their prayers for the peace and progress of the State.

Amosun stated this while addressing Muslim faithful during the ninth Ramadan Special  Iftar  (1440.A.H), organised by the State government at the Arcade Ground, Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, with the theme: Equity, Fairness and Justice; The Role of Muslims in National  Integration.

He noted that his administration has laid a good foundation that would make the State great, saying, “when we came in 2011, Ogun State was rated 29th position in the comity of States but today, to the Glory of Almighty God, whichever the indices they want to use, we are now second position within eight years in office and very soon, we will be first “.

While dwelling on the topic, Amosun stated that, it is imperative to be fair, equal and just to everybody no matter the religion and socio ethnicity describing Ramadan as the month that preaches good deeds and brotherliness.

“What comfort me most is that, no matter who you are, whichever position you find yourself, one day you will answer the call of Almighty God and that is one that keeps me going, In anything we do, We must fear God, we must be fair, just and equitable to all manners of people, To the glory of Almighty God, I have done that, I am at peace with my creator, I came, I saw, I conquered. We are leaving Ogun State better than we met it “, Amosun stated.

He appreciated everybody for their support since the inception of this administration, especially the judiciary and legislative arms of Government, urging the clerics to keep on praying for the State in order to achieve its greatness.

The Guest Lecturer, the Chief Imam, University of Ibadan Muslims Community, Prof. Muftau Oloyede Abdulrahmon, said people should learn how to tolerate one another, irrespective of religious background and socio- ethnicity, saying, ‘’we should see ourselves as one entity, without being bias’’.

He called on all in the position of authority to emulate the leadership qualities being demonstrated by Prophet Mohammed while in Meddina, among the Muslims, Christians and the Jews, adding that, the constitution of the country must be fair, equity and just to allow everyone practice religion of their choice.

Abdulrahmon while identifying racial harmony as core ingredient in nation building and national integration, appealed to government not to impose any policy on the people, adding that teaching of religion should be used as a weapon to shapen lives, for peaceful co-existence.

In their goodwill messages, the Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs.) Yetunde Onanuga, the Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Suraj Ishola Adekunbi and the Chief Judge of the State, Hon. Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu, thanked God for all that the Governor had been able to achieve, while praying that Almighty Allah will protect and grant him success in his future endeavours, they appreciated all stakeholders for their support, cooperation and perseverance.
