Four trucks of diesel intercepted in Ondo

The Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) said it has intercepted three trucks conveying 22,800 litres of illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil, also known as called Diesel.

It said three suspects, Adamu Usman, Usman Mohammed and Shuabu Ishiaku, were arrested with the trucks.

Commandant of the NSCDC Hammed Abodunrin said the suspects were apprehended at Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area by operatives of the Anti-vandalism Unit of the command.

Abodunrin said Adamu Usman took off from Ahoada in Rivers State with the aim of discharging the product to an intended buyer at Ogere in Ogun State.

According to him, “Usman Mohammed was aprehended while  driving a truck with number plate BAUCHI BAU 68 XR with one tank attached to the truck containing about 6,600 litres of illegally refined petroleum product suspected to be diesel.

“From  the point of arrest, we deduced that there are  two tanks constructed and attached to the truck but only one tank was filled with petroleum product, leaving the other one empty.

“Another truck with the number plate YOBE NNR 206 XA was also impounded at Ore Town while the suspects took to their heels immediately they sighted the Antivandal Squad. The truck has a tank attached to it which contains about 6,600 litres of  illegally refined petroleum product suspected to be  AGO.”
