No fewer than thirteen commuters have lost their lives while twelve others suffered serious injuries in a road mishap at Mowe/Ibafo along Lagos/Ibadan Expressway on Wednesday afternoon July 21st.
Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, TRACE, in a statement says the accident involved an unregistered Volvo Truck loaded with waste and a Mazda commercial bus with registration number APP 28 YE.
According to eyewitness account, the driver of the commercial bus allegedly overtook an ongoing vehicle on motion wrongly, lost control and subsequently rammed into a broken down truck.
Thirteen out of twenty five commuters in the bus were reportedly killed while the rest suffered some degree of injuries.
TRACE Traffic managers, FRSC and the Police rescued the injured victims and took them to a private hospital for prompt medical attentions and bodies of those killed in the accident were also deposited at the morgue in the same hospital.
TRACE traffic managers later cleared wreckage from the accident off the road for free flow of traffic and towed the accidented vehicles to Sagamu Police station.
