Trace Charges Drivers On Responsible Driving

The Corps Commander, Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), ‘Seni Ogunyemi, has urged drivers to avoid acts that would lead to avoidable road crashes in the State.

Ogunyemi who stated this while reacting to the fatal accident that occurred recently along the old Lagos/Abeokuta Expressway, Ewekoro, where eight people lost their lives, expressed displeasure over the incessant accidents along major highways in the State.

He highlighted wrongful parking, over speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol and overloading, as some of the factors responsible for road accidents.

‘’The havoc and grief brought on families as a result of road traffic crashes, is best imagined than encountered. People allow themselves to be parked into a vehicle like animals, most of the time, the passengers encourage drivers to over speed, not minding the fact that the road is gentle, but does not forgive.  When accidents happen, people blame government, or traffic managers, this is one of the reasons why we at TRACE said, we don’t want any abandoned vehicle beside the road.

‘’Vehicles must not be parked beside the road, you can do some minor repairs on the road but don’t abandon them there,’’ Ogunyemi counselled.
