Yuletide: TRACE Deploys 350 Personnel, 23 Vehicles In Ogun
THE Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) has deployed 350 operatives, 23 patrol vehicles and 20 tow trucks to roads in the state as part of measures to ensure an accident-free celebration this yuletide season.
According to a release issued by Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the corps, Babatunde Akinbiyi, TRACE also said it has initiated a whistle-blower initiative and emergency service so as to incorporate other road users and the public into ensuring safe and responsible driving in the state.
According to the release, Corps Commander, Olaseni Ogunyemi, said the operation which commenced on Monday, 17th December 2018, would last through Monday, 7th January 2019.
“The special operation would also involve all road users through the TRACE Traffic Whistle Blower Initiative, TRACE Emergency Service (TETS), as well as, the Community Based Traffic Management Scheme, which seeks to incorporate the general public into the Safety Drive.
“Christmas and New Year celebrations come with attendant traffic challenges as a result of the increased human and vehicular movement, over-speeding, drunk driving and other overbearing attitudes of motorists, hence, the need for a corresponding increase in road traffic management to ensure the safety of all road users”.
He warned that any vehicle that causes any traffic infractions during the celebrations would not be released until Monday, January 7, 2019, when the Corps Special Operation would have ended.
