Emir of Zazzau buried in palace
The remains of the late Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Shehu Idris have been laid to rest at the Emir’s Palace in Zaria.
The 18th Emir of Zazzau who died in the hours of Sunday in Kaduna, was buried close to the tomb of some past Emirs of the emirate.
The funeral prayers led by Chief Imam of Zazzau Emirate, Alhaji Dalhatu Kasimu, around 5:35pm was attended by thousands of mourners.
Among them were Kaduna Governor Malam Nasiru El-Rufa’I; Chief of Staff to the President, Professor Ibrahim Gambari; Minister of Aviation Sen. Hadi Sirika and Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu
Others were: Secretary to Kaduna State Government, Balarabe Lawal-Abbas; Kaduna Speaker Kaduna Hon. Yusuf Zailani and heads of military and paramilitary formations and institutions in the State.
Residents wept openly when the remains of the late Paramount ruler arrived the Palace from Kaduna at about 2.45pm.
The palace was was filled to capacity as friends, relatives and well -wishers patiently waited till evening to pay their last respect to the late Emir.
