Reckless And Dangerous Driving: TRACE Drifts Rescue Operatives To Ogun Road .

The Corps Commander/Chief Executive of Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps  (TRACE) has drifted operatives of the agency on stategic parts of the roads to apprehend reckless and dangerous driving drivers whose nonchalant attitude have sent hundreds of lives to their early graves.

He was speaking on phone with TheCaveat.info this morning in response to a fatal accident which claimed five passengers’ lives, leaving eight others critically injured and only two escaped without a hurt, in the night on Abeoukuta/Odeda road when a truck left its way and hit a Ford bus.

Ogunyemi said this decision was prompted by the Agency’s resolve to put a lasting solution to avoidable incessant accidents on Ogun roads, having explored other means.

“We are aware of the fact that some drivers become beasts that never regard human laws when they are on the wheel, so they exhibit this attitude and drive carelessly and recklessly, by over speeding and overtaking even at a narrow single lane roads. This must be stopped.

According to the TRACE Boss, a rescue team headed by the Corps Commander himself, has been established, which rescued the latest survivors of the Odeda accident early morning.

“We established a rescue team which parades Ogun roads day and night with the purpose of monitoring motorists before they commit another fatal error. No one has slept since yesterday immediately we learnt of this latest accident.

“There must be an end to this nonchalant behaviour of drivers”, the TRACE Boss said, adding that erring drivers will immediately be charged to Court as soon as they are apprehended.

The accident at Odeda along Abeokuta Ibadan Road occurred around 11 p.m. yesterday.

According to the rescue team leader, Commander Adekoya, the accident occurred when a white headed lveco truck with Reg No LAR 114YD lost control through over speeding on the part of truck driver and ran into pot holes, ramming into a moving Ford bus with 15 passengers, in the opposite direction on the single lane ro
The yellow Ford bus with Reg No MUS367XV was thrown into the bush in pieces where five passengers were found lifeless and 10 surviving victims were rushed to hospitals.

The rescue team Commander who spoke with our correspondent said  4 male injured victims were taken to FMC Idi Aba, while 4 others were taken to private hospital at Odeda, but the 5 corpses were dropped at ijaye mortuary in Abeokuta.
