Professionals charged on stress management at NIEEE Abeokuta technical session

Professionals have been admonished on the greatest weapon against stress which is the ability to choose one thought over another.

This was contained in the words of advice of the Immediate Past President of the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN), Engr. Dr. Felicia Agubata, FNSE during the April 2021 Online technical session of the Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (NIEEE) Abeokuta Chapter titled “Stress Management”.

NTA Abeokuta Online News gathered that Agubata highlighted types of stressors, its causes and symptom and, how to manage stress during her presentation.

“Control your distractions, let go of the past, support thoughtful work, recognize when you are overwhelmed and seek help were advised as strategies of managing stress at work place” she said.

“Stress is everywhere and we just have to deal with it properly. So you have to identify its triggers immediately. Doing so can help you find solutions to fight stress. However, if you think stress persists after doing self help, ask for professional help as soon as you can”, Agubata concluded at the well – attended online session.

In their separate remarks, Wife of the Deputy Governor of Delta State, Engr. Ebierin Otuaro, FNSE; Member NSE BOT and Past President of APWEN, Engr. Dr. Patricia Odili, FNSE; NSE Vice President, Engr. Adeniran Felix Ibitoye (Kilomodemo), FNSE; NIEEE National Chairman, Engr. Adeyemi Kings, FNIEEE; NSE Apapa Past Chairman, Engr. Sunny Ejeje commended the Guest Speaker, Dr. Agubata FNSE for an insightful and purposeful presentation.

They advised professionals to take their health serious because health is wealth.

Similarly, the participants commended NIEEE Abeokuta for organising an educative session on stress management and urged that such effort should go round all the divisions and branches of NSE because of its importance.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Abeokuta Chairman of NIEEE, Engr. Olumayowa Idowu, FNIEEE said Abeokuta Chapter has given utmost priority to the welfare of her members, reason for the decision to educate her members on stress management.
