State Contingent Makes Ogun Proud With Legendary Award

The Ogun State contingent at the just concluded National Festival of Arts and Culture, NAFEST 2017, held in Kaduna has once again made the State proud by winning NAFEST Legendary Award for being the most consistent state

          The Director General, National Council for Arts and Culture, Otunba Olusegun Runsewe disclosed this at the closing ceremony of the 30th edition of the Festival of Arts and Culture hosted by Kaduna State.

He said apart from wining the legendary award, the state was also the best in cultural design,  packaging and presentation followed by Rivers, Taraba and Nassarawa, explaining that the State came second in children’s stage performance and third in group instrumentation as well as winning the second place in the traditional board game known as ‘Ayo Olopon’.

Runsewe submitted that the State got fourth place alongside Delta State in the overall standings behind Lagos, Kaduna and Bayelsa State, assuring that the indigenous creative design and outstanding performance noted with State as best among equal.

In her remarks, the Ogun State Director for Culture, Mrs Melutia Ogunremi appreciated Governor Ibikunle Amosun for supporting the State contingent to project the rich cultural heritage, noting that the State would go global with their outstanding performance.

“I want to thank the Governor Ibikunle Amosun for giving us the opportunity to represent the state, I know he has great passion for culture and we have promised not to let the state down and yet again,  we have brought back six different gongs to make the state proud,” She said.

She applauded the effort of the children that represented the State in the indigenous proverb rendition, stage dramatization, essay writing and painting, describing them as true sons and daughters of the State.

The 31st edition of the National Festival of Arts and Culture would be hosted by Rivers State in 2018.
