Police Warn Politicians to Eschew Violence During and After LG Election in Ogun

Ahead of the local government election in Ogun State on Saturday July 24th, Ogun State Police Command says the command in collaboration with other sister security agencies has put in place effective security arrangements to ensure free, fair, credible and violent free election.
In a statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the command, at various levels and fora had met with the contesting political parties and their candidates and warned them to eschew violence before, during and after the election.
The Command has also directed all the Area commanders and DPOs to be on the alert in order to nip in the bud any violent act that may occur within their area.
The command’s tactical teams, namely SWAT, Anti-kidnapping, Anti-cultism as well as PMF have been deployed to every nooks and crannies of the state to ensure hitch free local government Poll.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Edward Awolowo Ajogun while appealing to party leaders to advise their supporters to conduct themselves in a peaceful manner says anyone caught trying to disrupt the smooth conduct of the election will be made to feel the full weight of the law.
