PCC new Chief Commissioner pledges to resolve complaints

The newly appointed Chief Commissioner, Public Complaints Commission, Hon. Abimbola Yusuf has assumed office on Tuesday, pledged to resolve all the pending complaints filled by Nigerians.
Briefing the newsmen upon his assumption, Yusuf said that he would consolidate on the achievements of his predecessors both locally and internationally to achieve the objectives of the commission.
“As I assume office today as the Chief Commissioner, I recognised that the commission is not where it needs to be.
“I shall therefore, hope to consolidate on the achievements of my predecessors locally and internationally.
” I shall continue to strengthen and enhance the investigation activities of the commission to resolve more complaints effectively and timely, ” he said.
The PCC boss also pledged to strive to eliminate recalcitrant attitude of some parastatal agencies of government towards invitation to case conferences and summons.
“I shall be setting up rapid response squad to ensure a rapid and timely response to complaints, undertake a more proactive rather than reactive response to complaints.
“This means that henceforth, more emphasis will be placed on generating complaints from observed administrative infractions rather than receiving complaints, ” Yusuf pledged.
He said commission under his watch would collaborate with the National Assembly to ensure the amendment of the PCC act to inject more bite to it as the act established the commission in 1975 had become obsoleted.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the National Assembly on May, approved the appointment of Yusuf, among other 37 Federal Commissioners for the 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory.
Until his new appointment, Yusuf was the PCC Commissioner for Lagos State. (NAN)
