Okada Ban: Pandemonium As Lagos-Based Adamawa Indigenes Returned Home

Turmoil set in at Maraban Mubi as a result of massive return of motorcycle and tricycles commercial riders who are indigenes of Adamawa State who left Lagos over a recent ban placed by government on the okada and tricycle operation in the state.

Recall that on Monday, January 27, 2020, the Lagos State government announced a ban on the activities of okada and Keke NAPEP in some Local Government Areas like Apapa, Lagos Mainland, Surulere, Eti Osa, Lagos Island, Ikeja effective from February 1, 2020

An eyewitness simply identified as Musa, speaking with Tribune Online, said, “confusion set in at the junction when the Lagos-based riders were denied entry to their different localities in Mubi, Maiha, Michika, and Madagali areas in the state by the military personnel.

One of the returnees confirmed to Tribune Online that on their arrival at about 11:00 p.m. on Wednesday, “the military men stopped us and denied us access to our various destinations.”

“We arrived at 11:00 p.m., and it is 11:00 a.m. now with no sign of our release.”
