Women Development Centre Matriculates 150 Trainees, Warns Against Unwholesome Acts

Another batch of 150 beneficiaries of the vocational training offered by the Women Development Centre of the Ogun State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development have been charged to avoid acts capable of truncating their studies at the centre.

          Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Abiola Kufile-Okonji, who gave the charge at the matriculation of the 7th batch of students, held at the Centre’s Training Hall, Abeokuta, noted that vocational training has been revitalized, judging by the importance attached to it by all stratum of the society.

          She advised the students to embrace decent dressing, punctuality and remain focused, as demonstration of good character and comportment would be rewarded.

          Speaking earlier, the Director, Child Development Services, Mr. Kehinde Egbeolowo, reiterated government’s commitment to empowering youths and women to be self-reliant, urging the students to be dedicated to the training towards becoming employers of labour, rather than job seekers.

          In her remark, the Director, Women Empowerment Services, Mrs. Bolanle Fadairo, acknowledged the unflinching support of the State government to the centre since its resuscitation in 2015, adding that, training in various vocations are offered on regular basis.

           Representatives of the trainees, Folasade Okunowo, Catering Unit and Azeezat Oladele of Fashion Designing Unit, appreciated the State Government for the opportunity given to them to be trained at the centre, noting that the gesture would enable them to be self-reliant.

          The trainees are to take courses in hairdressing, fashion designing, tilling, catering and makeup, with head gear tying.
