UBEC Boss Thumbs Up Ogun On Quality Education

The Chairman, Governing Board of Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Dr. Mahmud Abubakar has commended Ogun State government for putting in place enduring structures, that would further improve the education sector, particularly basic education across the State.

Dr.  Abubakar gave the commendation during the assessment tour to the State, on the on-going National Personnel Audit, at the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) Conference Hall, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

He noted that the State had always been a pace-setter in quality education delivery at all levels, adding that such commitment, if maintained by successive administrations, would ensure rapid socio-economic development of the State and the nation at large.

Dr. Abubakar explained that the on-going audit exercise, which for the first time, included the private schools, was to complement and strengthened the efforts of state governments at developing the sector, expressing  satisfaction at the high level of enthusiasm and commitment of the teachers in the schools visited by the audit team.

While appreciating the State Government for its unalloyed support for the exercise, UBEC Executive Secretary, Dr. Hammid Bobboyi, stressed that the exercise was a strategic policy, aimed at effectively realising the objectives of the sector, adding that data collated would engender a robust structured organisation and boost basic education in Nigeria.

Welcoming the UBEC team, the Chairman, Ogun SUBEB, Alhaji Olatunde Okewole, reiterated government’s commitment to basic education, assuring that the board would continue to address challenges as they unfold, in order to collectively sail the ship of education to the desired destination.
