Ogun Sought Collaboration for Optimum Performance in Water Sector

 

In other to achieve optimum performance in the State Water sector on data collation and management, Ogun State Water Cooperation, in collaboration with International Benchmarking Network (IBNET) has started brainstorming on proper way to generate data for better supply of water to its citizenry.

The General Manager, Ogun State Water Cooperation, Engr.  Monsurat Agboola, while receiving officials of IBNET in her office in Abeokuta, said no organisation could survive without a proper data collation and management, noting that a faulty data collation would affect negatively the Internal Generated Revenue of any organization.

Opining that water sector in Nigeria needed more attention, Engr. Agboola called for proper channelling of data for proper reconciliations before getting to the monitoring and evaluation unit, for the overall data collation.

The GM urged the heads of department to imbibe the culture of proper record keeping, as this was a major determinant to the success or failure of an organization.

Speaking, the World Bank Consultant on International Benchmarking Network Tool kit, Mr. Michael Alofe, said the Corporation could still improve on its methods of gathering data by enumerating houses connected to its supply and those not connected, to have good knowledge of amount of water being supplied to members of the public.

He charged heads of unit and department to build good working relationships with the monitoring and evaluation unit, for better collation of data, saying the more water was supply to the public, the more revenue the corporation would generate.

Alofe said the aim of the visit was to institutionalise the State water sector, in terms of data collation, advising that the amount of water supplied, be harmonised with the real figure of the State population, for improved service.
