Ogun State Government has again provided succour to people affected by the July 13, 2018 flood disaster in Abeokuta, the State capital.

Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Bolaji Oyeleye during the presentation of relief materials to some of the flood victims at the Arcade ground, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, disclosed that the compensation was in collaboration with Stanbic IBTC Bank, Abeokuta branch.

Oyeleye noted that the distribution of the materials was targeted at selected set of victims, whose sources of livelihood were grossly affected by the flooding incident, adding that the exercise was second in the series of programmes designed to relieve victims.

While appreciating the partners for their kind gesture, the Commissioner commended the state government for creating an enabling ambience for such partnership to thrive.

He advised residents to desist from indiscriminate dumping of refuse, recalling that the flood was aggravated by such act.

The Branch Manager of the Bank, Mr. Olumide Adelaja, described the flood disaster as unfortunate, saying the organisation’s gesture was focusing on people who lost their means of livelihood, while appealing to beneficiaries to accept the token; he commended the state government for the massive infrastructural facilities being put in place for businesses to thrive.

One of the beneficiaries, Elder Ugbiya Emmanuel appreciated the gesture, saying, this would go a long way in reviving their trades.
