Ogun NAWORG Honours Dr. Mrs Amosun

Wife of the Ogun State Governor and President, UPLIFT Development Foundation (UDF), Mrs. Olufunso Amosun, has been decorated as, a Trade Global Mentor by the Nigeria Association of Chambers and Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) Business Women Group (NAWORG), Ogun State Chapter, for her commitment in promoting entrepreneurship among women in the State.

Speaking during the official inauguration and investiture ceremony of the State branch of NAWORG in Abeokuta, Mrs. Amosun congratulated the National President of NACCIMA, Iyalode Alaba Lawson and other members of the women group, saying women remain a strong force to be reckoned with in the business sector.

She also appreciated them for considering her fit for the honour, noting that it was imperative for members to be united and continue to support one another, to move the Association and the nation forward, particularly in the area of small and medium scale businesses.

Mrs, Amosun who is also the Grand Matron of NACCIMA, said NAWORG was a reputable business group that had served as a platform for women in business, to improve on their entrepreneurial skills, commending the Association for its efforts at improving the economic power of women nationwide.

Responding, Iyalode Lawson, said the women group of NACCIMA was inaugurated in the State like in other states of the Federation to empower women, to enable them contribute meaningfully to the development of the economy, as well as serve as a forum for local entrepreneurs to network and enhance their businesses.

While eulogising Mrs. Amosun for her role in empowering women and youths in the State to be self-sufficient and self-reliant, she charged women to stand up to their responsibilities, get involved in national development  and process of decision making, urging members of the group to  see the inauguration of the chapter as a call to service.

In her welcome address, the Chairperson, NACCIMA Business Women Group, Mrs Cynthia Saka, said that the role of women in the society could not be overemphasised, especially in areas of family-life, business, politics and education, saying they could achieve more when resources are pulled together, share experiences and network positively.

Highlights of the event included; presentation of inauguration lectures titled, ‘’Becoming a Woman Entrepreneur, Prospect and Challenges’’ by Professor Modupe Adelabu, ‘’Exploring Opportunities in Agribusiness: Women on Call’’ by Prof. Helen Bodunde and investiture of Mrs. Adesola Adebutu as Ogun NAWORG Matron and Alhaji Tunji Labode as Ogun NAWORG Patron among others.
