Ogun Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun visits OOUTH

Topmost in any welfare initiative for the citizenry by government is the facilitation of easy access to quality and affordable healthcare services. This is a major component of the new Ogun State Administration’s “Building Our Future Together” agenda. Indeed, there is no future without a sound health.

As a result of this conviction, the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun MFR visited the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital earlier today to assess the condition of the only teaching hospital in the State.

The Governor was received by the Chief Medical Director, Dr Peter Adefuye who conducted him round the hospital as he gives a detailed account of the physical and operational challenges being experienced by hospital management.

Abiodun expressed his dissatisfaction concerning the deplorable and substandard state of the teaching hospital, despite its importance to the medical students and patients that are in dire need of quality health services and facilities.

The Chairperson, Medical Advisory Committee, Dr. Bunmi Fatungase established the fact that the hospital capacity was 100-bedded at inception, but was later made to accommodate 320-bed without any improvement on its facilities and personnel.

Hence, the Governor decided to overhaul the health sector of the State and make Olabisi Onabanjo Teaching Hospital a reference point in Nigeria, in terms of infrastructure, modern equipments and qualified and adequate personnel.
