Ogun Government Applauds Establishment of Afrexim’s Quality Centre

Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele has said that the establishment of the AFREXIM’s Africa Quality Assurance Center in Sagamu, meant for testing and certification of Agricultural products has come at a strategic time when the State is determined to boost its existing industrial base.

Engr. Salako-Oyedele made the disclosure when she led other government functionaries on an assessment tour of the facility, noting that the establishment of the Centre would complement the ongoing construction of the Agro-Cargo Airport project at Iperu-Remo.

She revealed that Governor Dapo Abiodun recently signed a $400m Memorandum of Understanding with investors, to enable the construction of the facility to meet their needs.

“Construction of this facility could not have come at a very strategic time for us here in Ogun State, as Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration has the vision to boost the already existing industrial base across the State”, the deputy Governor said.

Engr. Salako-Oyedele appreciated AFREXIM for the wonderful initiative in the State and Africa as a whole, stating that it was an opportunity for individuals who were interested to venture into export deals.

Earlier in her remarks, Director of Export Development, Afrexim Bank, Mrs. Oluranti Doherty, commended the State government for its commitment to the development of the State, noting that the Centre was set up by Afrexim Bank to serve as a major testing and certification arena for agricultural products before it could be exported.

Doherty said the innovation is the first of its kind in the African continent and would attract more investors to the State and serve as a major training center for Small and Medium Enterprises, assured of a more mutually beneficial relationship.
