Ogun cautions Industries against environmental infractions

The Ogun State Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Bolaji Oyeleye has cautioned industries operating in the State to refrain from activities that could infract the environment.

          Speaking after routine inspection exercise to industries around Ibafo area of the State,  Oyeleye said the exercise was carried out to check the level of compliance of industries and to sanction those that are found wanting.

          The Commissioner who was represented by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Environment, Alhaji Oyesiku Amosun, observed that some of the industries do not have Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) and as a result releasing toxic water to the environment, which is hazardous to the environment particularly, the host communities.

          ‘’Government is putting all hands on deck to ensure that industries operating within the State, comply with all environmental laws, which also include, having effluent treatment plant in their premises, to recycle waste water’’, he said.

          He advised them to engage Certified Environmental Consultant to manage issues that has to do with environment.
