OGSG Set To Celebrate African Drum Festival

The Ogun State Government is set to celebrate the fourth edition of African Drum Festival, with the theme, ‘’DRUMming the FUTURE’’, from Thursday 25th to Saturday 27th April, 2019.

A release signed by the Special Adviser to the Governor  on Information and Strategy, Mr. Durojaye Rotimi, stated that the event would take place at the contemporary 10,000 capacity Amphitheatre located within the Abeokuta City Centre.

This year’s edition, according to the release, is enriched with a wider range of contents, to further solidify the festivals reputation, as one of the most revolutionary cultural events in Africa.

It added that major highlights of the festival included an international roundtable and workshop, to be led by the Festival’s Consultant, Prof. Wole Soyinka, exhibition performances by troupes from various regions across the world, cultural education and exposition by traditional rulers and culture scholars, a festival village providing an array of Local culture, lifestyles, arts and food court, as well as the unveiling of the Ransome Kuti Legacy Museum among others.

It further stated that Governor Ibikunle Amosun would address a world press conference on the festival on Monday, April 15, 2019, at the Banquet Hall of MITROS Residence, Ibara GRA by 11am.

According to the release, the event has successfully placed the State on the world map, as the cultural destination of choice, in fulfilment of the vision of Senator Ibikunle Amosun, the festival’s Convener.
