OGSG Lauded for declaring State of Emergency in Education Sector.
A former Head of Service in the State, Elder Sola Adeyemi has lauded the present administration in Ogun State, led by Prince Dapo Abiodun, for declaring a State of Emergency in the education sector, which he said was in decay and needed urgent attention.
Elder Adeyemi stated this at the 2019 Alma Mater Day celebration, organized by Conference of Old Students and Alumni Association of Western Nigeria, Ogun State Chapter, held at United Primary School, Ayetoro-Yewa Zone.
He called on stakeholders to support government to achieve its target goals for the sector, urging old students to give back to their Alma Mater, in order to inspire the pupils in public schools, towards spurring them to greatness.
Earlier, the Conference Chairman, Professor Adelana Adenekan, said the aim of the Association was to influence Government policies on education and also to continue supporting them towards the growth and progress of the schools.
In a goodwill message, the Provost, College of Agriculture, Olabisi Onabajo University, Ayetoro, Professor John Ayosu, admonished pupils to take their education as paramount, appreciating teachers for imparting knowledge, skills and moral values on the pupils.
A retired Permanent Secretary in Ogun State, Dr. Yemisi Bamigbose, appreciated the Association for their efforts at shifting the focus to primary schools, urging Old Students to give back to their Alma Mater.
Remarking, the Managing Trustee Educational Initiative for Western Nigeria, Professor Biyi Afonja, urged the pupils to be good ambassadors, advising them to put into good use the opportunities given to them by their parents and the school, as education is the best legacy that could be bequeathed to them.
