Reform Is To Improve, Transform Public Service – Ogun HOS

The Ogun State Head of Service, Mr. Abayomi Sobande has expressed optimism that the newly inaugurated Public Service Transformation Office (PSTO), would bring about the desired improvement and transformation, for effective and efficient service delivery in the state.

Mr. Sobande who made this assertions at the maiden sensitization meeting on the public service reform, held at the Oba’s complex, Oke-Mosan Abeokuta, allayed fear of public servants over the ongoing public service reform which was originally formulated by Senator Ibikunle Amosun, upon his assumption of office in 2011, where a high-power committee comprising the State Executive Council Members and some Permanent Secretaries was inaugurated.

He revealed that, though the effort lost steam due to competing priorities, but later reintroduced in 2017, in partnership with  PSTO and the Department for Foreign and International Development (DFID), in order to ensure an institutionalised reform, that would outlived the tenure of the Senator Amosun led government.

“The State Government rediscovered its passion for coordinated reforms in the State Public Service for more effective and efficient service delivery at the South West Governance Innovations Conference, held in Abeokuta in January 2017, by the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN Commission) and supported by DFID of the British Government”, Sobande stated.

According to the HoS, the uniqueness of the reform was that it is public service driven, he therefore enjoined members of state public service to always give their best for the collective survival of the reform.

Speaking at the occasion, the Director General, PSTO, Mr. Jola Oyeneye urged all to embrace change, as it is the basic essence of the reform
