Miss Culture: Ogun govt committed to Yoruba language, cultural promotion
In its effort at ensuring that cultural beliefs and tradition of the Yoruba people continue to thrive, the Ogun State government says it would continue to encourage cultural exchange programmes aimed at actualising the promotion of Yoruba Language and culture.
Oladipo noted that as part of efforts of the state government at promoting and developing culture, the state had successfully hosted the Drums Festival, adding that the Senator Ibikunle Amosun led administration would stop at nothing at encouraging bright ideas that would continue to help to promote culture.
“ On our part as a ministry, we did the Festival of Drums, we have done it twice, ‘Nigerian Drums and African Drums Festivals, if we see anyone that wants to promote culture alongside the state government, we will encourage them. We have continuously supported cultural exchange programmes like Ewa Ede, so when Miss Culture came, we had no choice but to support them because the Ogun State Government was poised to continue to take culture to greater heights,” he said.
He thanked the Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun for creating an enabling environment for culture to continue to thrive in the state, noting that the level attained by the state at promoting cultural exchange programmes was made possible by the friendly policies put in place by the state government.
In his remarks, the organiser of the event and the Chief Executive Officer of Free Vision Limited, Mr Olusesi Ayorinde noted that Miss Culture came up because he saw the need to play his part at ensuring that the Yoruba culture does not go into extinction.
He commended the efforts of the Ogun State Government under the leadership of Senator Amosun at promoting culture, saying the state government should not relent in its effort at making the state a hub for culture.
The star prize of a trip to South Africa was won by Miss Ayeyemi Oluwafeyidami representing Sagamu Local Government, while the first and second runners up positions were won by Miss Oyinlola Akindiya and Miss Mufutau Odunayo representing Ewekoro and Abeokuta North Local Government area, respectively.
