Ogun Speaker Urges Islamic Faithful To Sustain Benefits Of Ramadan Fast

Muslim ummah in Ogun State and Nigeria at large have been tasked to use the occasion of the Eid-el-Fitri celebration to re-dedicate themselves to the values and virtues inherent in the holy month of Ramadan by promoting peace, religious tolerance, brotherhood and unity amongst the people, irrespective of religious beliefs and social class.

The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Suraju Ishola Adekunbi gave the admonition in his Eid -El Fitri message, shortly after observing the Sallah prayers at the Ayetoro Central Mosque Praying ground, Yewa North Local Government Area of the State.

Congratulating Muslim faithful for the successful completion of the Ramadan fast, the Speaker urged them to use the period of the Eid-el-Fitr celebration to reflect on their spiritual life as individuals and contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic development of the country.

He enjoined the people to continue to live in peace and unity, which he noted was essential for progress and stability of the nation, reiterating that Nigeria as a nation, need leaders and followers who are dedicated to the betterment of the country through selfless service, patriotism and loyalty.

Adekunbi while praying that Almighty Allah grant the Muslim faithful all the rewards embedded in the holy month, he canvassed for more prayers and support for the Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration, to sustain the tempo of socio – economic development of the State.

Earlier, the Chief Imam of Ayetoro, Abdul-Ganiyu Illyas Ajakore, enjoined Muslims to continue to uphold the ideals of piety, patience, tolerance, perseverance, humility and self denial, which they displayed throughout the month of Ramadan.

Soliciting the support of all and sundry for the new administration, the Islamic cleric urged them to remain steadfast in the worship of Allah and follow the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) as they did during the holy month.
