Aworis Charged To Harmonise For Meaningful Development

Awori indigenes in the Ogun State have  been advised to come together to achieve meaningful development, as this will  put Aworiland in the spotlight.

The former Commissioner for Transportation in Lagos State, Hon. Kayode Opeifa gave the advice in his  opening remark at the maiden edition of Olota of Ota lecture titled; Awori Land beyond Borders: Role of Traditional Institutions, held at Ado –Odo/ Ota Local Government hall.

He said from history , Awori people settled in some part of Isheri, Mushin in Lagos and also in Ogun, particularly Igbesa ,as well as Ota and Ado Odo.

“All Awori indigenes need to come together in the same geographical location, for them to achieve meaningful and positive development’’; noting  that the younger generations should acquaint themselves with history in order to come out stronger.

In their separate lectures, Prof. Olarenwaju Fagbohoun and Mr. Bamidele Abdulhammed stressed that traditional rulers were pivotal in the developmental role of any land, adding that efforts should be made to attract positive investors, with free lease of land rather than selling off all the lands without recourse to future development.

Represented by Dr. Habeeb Abiodun, Prof. Fagbohoun highlighted the various settlements of Awori land and also called for unified geographical location.

Mr Abdulhammed on his part noted that Awori people had distinguished themselves in every sector, charging them not to relent in the unity and hard work they are known for.
