Gov. Abiodun’s Address at the Swearing – in of Ogun SSG and CoS

ADDRESS DELIVERED BY THE GOVERNOR OF OGUN STATE, HIS EXCELLENCY, PRINCE DAPO ABIODUN MFR, AT THE SWEARING-IN OF THE NEW SECRETARY TO THE GOVERNMENT OF STATE (SGS) AND CHIEF OF STAFF (CoS) TO THE GOVERNOR, HELD ON MONDAY, 24TH JUNE, 2019

Protocols,

As part of our Administration’s commitment to the fulfilment of our “Building our Future Together” agenda, we are not unaware of the fact that the people of Ogun State want improved and service delivery. We are beneficiaries of the supremacy of democracy over any power, we owe our people that much and even much more.

  1. In doing this, we must also ensure that we put capable people in positions where our people will be guaranteed optimum benefits of reposing their trust in us as exemplified by their massive votes during the gubernatorial election on Saturday, 9th March, 2019. You will agree with me that the office of the Secretary to the Government of State (SGS), and, the Chief of Staff to the Governor (CoS) are two of the many important offices that determine the success or otherwise of any administration. In choosing people who will occupy these offices, we have to carefully consider many variables.
  2. Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, after a careful search, diligent considerations and wide consultations, we found that Messrs Olatokunbo Joseph Talabi and Salisu Afolabi Shuiab are capable and fit to discharge the responsibilities of the Offices of the Secretary to the Government of State and Chief of Staff to the Governor, respectively.
  3. Both gentlemen possess both requisite academic and professional qualifications. They also have in addition rich experience in the private and public sectors, with ample international exposures necessary to add value to the governance processes of our dear State. No doubt, they have been tested and we can entrust them with the responsibilities of the Offices of SGS and CoS, respectively.
  4. As I join all our people to congratulate you on this well-deserved appointment, it is also important to remind you appointment is a call to service to the people of Ogun State. We expect you to serve without expecting any gains. Ogun State and her people expect from you unreserved commitment and dedication to duty and ensure the successful fulfilment of our Administration’s agenda of “Building our Future Together” for the benefit of our people.
  5. Distinguished Ladies and Gentlemen, let me state that the appointments of the SGS and CoS are just some of the appointments that we will make in the course of ensuring that our people enjoy the dividends of democracy and that they have efficient and effective service delivery. Let me assure all sectors of our dear State that no part or group in the State will be denied its fair representation in our Administration, without necessarily sacrificing merit.
  6. As I end this address, let me once again reassure the people of Ogun State that we will live by our word. This is your government and together we will build a strong today for a better future. I enjoin our people to continue to support our Administration steadfastly and pray for us unceasingly. And, I can assure you all that you will find us worthy beneficiaries of your trust and cooperation.
  7. Once again, I congratulate our new SGS and CoS and wish you successful tenure of office and service to Ogun State.
  8. I thank you all for listening.

Prince Dapo Abiodun MFR
Governor of Ogun State, Nigeria.
