Governor Abiodun Debunks Allegation of Misappropriation of Local Government Funds

Ogun State Government has debunked the allegation of Misappropriation of Local Government Funds leveled against it by the Chairman of Ijebu East Local Government Area, Mr. Wale Adedayo.

In a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Dapo Abiodun, Lekan Adeniran, the Government had often augmented the funds allocated to local governments in the state from the Federation Account to enable them to meet their obligations.

Government while reacting to a letter credited to the Chairman of Ijebu North Local Government, Wale Adedayo alleging zero revenue allocation to local governments in the state since 2021, said it had never tampered with local government funds and that money meant for local governments in the state are being handled by the constitutionally recognized Joint Account and Allocation Committee (JAAC).

Governor Abiodun noted that in a meeting held recently by members of JAAC, over 5 billion Naira was shared among the 20 local government areas of the state out of which over 2 billion Naira went to payment of teachers Salaries.

The Governor added that due process has always been followed since he took over the leadership of the state in 2019 and that roads and schools have been rehabilitated, while other projects are ongoing across the Local Government Areas and that he periodically disburses funds to all local governments for developmental projects.
