Atiku Presents Forensic Expert in Court to Give Evidence

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic party in the February 25 election, Atiku Abubakar in continuation of his evidence before the presidential election petition court Thursday has called his 26th witness who is a forensic expert.

Austin Anyebe of our judiciary desk reports that giving evidence was the 26th witness by name Hitler Unwuala who said that he is a digital forensic analyst.

He tendered seven volumes of forensic reports and an nexus on findings arrived at after allegedly carrying out investigation on the functionality of 110 BVAS and i-rev devices in the federal capital territory through Chris Uche SAN. This was after adopting his statement on oath which is his evidence in the petition.

The reports were admitted in evidence by the court but not without being objected to by counsel to INEC, President Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress, the respondents in the matter.

During cross examination, the witness claimed that the results were deleted from the devices investigated.

However, counsel to INEC, Abubakar Mahmud told him that his analysis of 110 BVAS machines out of the 3163 deployed to the FCT on the day of election was just 3.5% and 0.06% of total number of BVAS deployed nationwide.

Counsel to President Tinubu, Wole Olanipekun, SAN, inquired whether the witness was aware that Labour Party won by 67% of total votes cast in the FCT.

Counsel to all progressives congress, Lateef Fagbemi, during cross examination of the witness pointed out some errors in the reports tendered which he said rendered his work inaccurate, but the witness said errors noted were typographical.

The petitioners racing to close their case also tendered certified true copies of forms EC8AS from 20 local government areas of Ogun, 17 local government areas of Ondo, and 20 local government areas of Rivers.

Atiku Abubakar and the PDP as petitioners are expected to close their case on Friday, 23rd June, 2023.
