CBN Donates Guard Post To NTA Abeokuta

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Abeokuta branch has donated a guard post building to the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA, Abeokuta as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to its host community.

The Branch Controller of the apex bank, Wahab Oseni, at the handing over of the facility, held at the substation at Oke-Egunya area of the State capital, said the initiative was the brain-child of the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele.

Oseni explained that Emefiele had directed all state branches to ensure that they embarked on one project on an annual basis that would impact positively the people.

He hinted that there was no special fund provided for the gesture by the bank to execute the projects, saying the funds are provided by members of staff of the bank.

He added that the bank had embarked on no fewer than 13 projects since the idea was muted and that such projects include the provision of generating sets, renovation of schools; provision of desks and chairs to schools among others.

“It became a befitting project to do for the NTA because of the information, communication and entertainment we enjoy from them.

“On behalf of the Governor of Central Bank, and his team, who mandated all state capital offices to do something every year,” he said.

He appealed to other organisations and well-meaning Nigerians to assist the NTA Abeokuta, saying “there’s more to be done.”

Earlier in her welcome address, General Manager NTA Abeokuta, Mrs Funmi Wakama commended the Central Bank for the project, while promising its judicious use.

She maintained that the security cover the station would be enjoying from the guard post would go a long way in solving their security challenges in the station and in the community.

Wakama called on other people and organisations to take a cue from what the CBN has done to support the station.

Also speaking the Commissioner of Police, CP Edward Ajogun commended the CBN for its “magnanimity and this brilliant” to I’ve back to society.

Ajogun, who was represented by DCP Abiodun Alamutu also commended the general manager of the station for her “formidable leadership.”

He promised to ensure adequate security for the building, the equipment and the entire community.
