Armed Forces Remembrance Day: Religious Leaders Tasked On Peaceful Elections

          Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has called on religious leaders to pray for the sustained peace and unity in Nigeria, as the general elections draw nearer.

          Governor Amosun made the call during the Jumat service at the Central Mosque, Kobiti and Interdenominational thanksgiving held at the Cathedral Church of St. Peters, Ake, Abeokuta, to commemorate the 2019 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration.

          Amosun who stressed the importance of peace in the society, said, for a multi-ethnic country like Nigeria to be peaceful and experience meaningful development, religious leaders have the responsibility to always pray for her unity, especially in the forthcoming elections .

           The Governor, represented by his Deputy, Chief (Mrs.) Yetunde Onanuga, eulogised the officers and men of the armed forces, saying the efforts of those who have paid the supreme price for the peaceful co-existence of the country should not be forgotten.

          While imploring Nigerians to always pray for the repose of the souls of the fallen heroes, he maintained that the welfare of the families and dependents they left behind was a collective responsibility, as well as providing adequate care for those maimed in the course of defending the country.
