Mrs. Sokefun said that auditing of existing petroleum filling stations across the State was carried out, to ascertain their status, as well as compliance to the physical planning laws of the State, to ensure that safety measures were already in place before granting approval.

The Commissioner said, those that have built their filling stations without approval, had contravened the State’s physical planning laws that attracts penal fees, which according to her, has been considerably slashed by Governor Amosun.

She therefore advised the IPMAN executives to admonish their members, to desist from building petroleum filling stations without approval from the Ministry, as any future flagrant disobedience to the State’s planning laws, may attract severe penalties, including total demolition of such structures.

The Chairman, IPMAN, Mosimi Unit Mr. Samuel Idowu, thanked the State government for its leniency and promised to ensure that its members comply with the State’s physical planning laws, before embarking on any petroleum filling station development.
