Amosun Calls for Cultural Preservation, Showcasing of Adire Fabric

The Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has again emphasized the importance of culture and Yoruba tradition, saying efforts must be geared towards preserving it.

Governor Amosun who stated this while declaring open  the 2018 Adire Cultural Festival, held at the Adire market in Itoku, Abeokuta, urged the people to continue to showcase the fabric, as it has come to stay and was making impact as an international brand, available throughout the world.

He expressed delight on modern methods of producing the fabric, with different innovations, assuring that the market would be turned around to attract more tourists thereby increasing commercial activities in the market.

In their separate remarks, the wife of the Minister for Information and Culture, Mrs. Kudirat Lai Mohammed and the Consultant to the Governor on Culture and Tourism, Mrs. Yewande Amusan, appreciated the Governor’s effort at creating enabling environment for the people of the State, to engage in viable businesses.

Also, the Iyaloja and Babaloja, Kemta Adire Market, Alhaja Shadia Akamo and Alhaji Wasiu Erinfolami, commended the government for transforming the State and the facelift being given to the market, which they admitted would boost their sales.
