Bahraini runner Attar Abdullah Ali, representing the Bahraini Happy Team, will participate in the 2025 Amsterdam International Marathon, which is scheduled to be held on Sunday, October 19, with the participation of an elite group of professional and amateur runners from various countries of the world.

Captain Abdul Karim Turki of the Happy Team confirmed that the participation of runner Mercury Abdullah comes within the framework of an effort to gain more field experience through contact with prominent names in the world of long-distance running, in addition to confirming the Bahraini presence in the most prominent marathons in the world, without the goal being to compete for first places as much as it is to develop technical and physical capabilities and benefit from the European experience in organizing major races.

Turki added, “Through the participation of runner Mercury Abdullah, we seek to raise the name of the Kingdom of Bahrain in international sporting forums, and to build a generation of amateur runners capable of representing the Kingdom in international marathons in the future.”

The TCS Amsterdam Marathon is one of the most prestigious international races, and holds a platinum rating from the International Association of Athletics Federations (World Athletics Platinum Label), and this year celebrates its fiftieth anniversary, with more than 35,000 runners from more than 100 countries expected to participate in the race.

The race starts from the Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam and passes famous landmarks such as the Amstel River, the Rijksmuseum and Vondelpark before returning to the finishing point in the stadium, which is famous for its flat and fast track that gives runners the opportunity to achieve new personal records, as the track record was 2:03:39 set by Ethiopian Tamirat Tola in 2021.

The Happy Team’s participation comes within its initiatives aimed at promoting the culture of running, fitness, and community sports activities in Bahrain, and encouraging runners to engage in international experiences that raise their technical level and enrich their experiences in the global sports field.
