Dr. Abdul Aziz Al-Sayed, President, confirmed Poultry Division At the Federation of Chambers of Commerce, the increase in fuel prices, especially diesel, will be directly reflected in poultry prices during the coming period, explaining that transport vehicles and production farms rely primarily on diesel to operate heating generators with the onset of the winter season.
Poultry Division: An expected increase in chicken prices after raising diesel prices
Al-Sayed explained, in exclusive statements to Cairo 24, that since last August, poultry prices have ranged between 58 and 60 pounds per kilo, which caused losses to producers and traders, as a result of the high cost of production, which reached about 68 pounds per kilo.
He added that the current prices on farms range between 65 and 66 pounds per kilo, considering that it is a fair price that achieves an appropriate profit margin for the seller, and at the same time is acceptable to the consumer, stressing that the division seeks to control prices and reduce the burden on citizens despite the seasonal challenges.
Solar is a decisive factor in commodity pricing
The head of the Poultry Division indicated that he hoped that the increase decision would not include raising the price of diesel, given its importance in operating the productive sectors, pointing out that any increase in the price of diesel would be immediately reflected in the prices of agricultural commodities and crops.
Winter raises the cost of production due to heating and fortifications
The head of the division pointed out that the winter represents an annual challenge for the poultry sector, as the cost of production rises as a result of the need to heat houses and provide preventive immunizations against immune diseases that spread at low temperatures, stressing that controlling the market and balancing prices requires continuous coordination between the concerned authorities and producers.
Moving the prices of petroleum products
Today, the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources announced the decision of the Automatic Pricing Committee for Petroleum Products to raise the prices of gasoline and diesel in Egypt by about two pounds, as of six o’clock this morning, Friday, October 17, 2025, in line with expectations of a second increase during the current year, 2025, in order to fill the gap in support for petroleum products.
The increase came as of six o’clock this morning, corresponding to 10/17/2025, as follows:
- Gasoline: 21.95 pounds/liter instead of 19 pounds/liter.
- Gasoline 92 19.25 pounds/liter instead of 17.25 pounds/liter
- Gasoline 80 17.75 pounds / liter instead of 15.75 pounds / liter
- Diesel is 17.5 pounds/liter instead of 15.5 pounds/liter.
- Gas supply for cars is 10 pounds/m3 instead of 7 pounds/m3
