In line with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may God protect him, to launch the “Tree Week” initiative for this year, Sheikh Khalid bin Hamoud Al Khalifa, Governor of the Capital Governorate, inaugurated the afforestation project on Street 40 in the Seef District area, in cooperation with the Capital Municipality and Khaleeji Bank.
During the event, which witnessed the participation of Engineer Mohammed Saad Al-Sahli, Director General of the Capital Municipality, and Mr. Sattam Sulaiman Al-Gosaibi, CEO of Khaleeji Bank, a number of trees were planted with the aim of increasing the green area and improving the aesthetic appearance of the area, which contributes to improving the urban environment and enhancing the quality of life of the community.
Sheikh Khalid bin Hamoud Al Khalifa stressed the Capital Governorate’s keenness to support pioneering initiatives that contribute to enhancing environmental awareness and consolidating the concepts of sustainability, noting that these efforts come within an integrated vision to make the capital a sustainable urban model that combines urban development and environmental preservation, highlights the aesthetic identity of the governorate and consolidates its position as a leading economic and tourism center at various levels.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Hamoud Al Khalifa expressed his thanks and appreciation to Khaleeji Bank for their generous support and active contribution to the success of the 40th Street planting initiative, stressing that the partnership between the public and private sectors represents a fundamental pillar for achieving sustainable development and enhancing social responsibility in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
On this occasion, Sattam Sulaiman Al Gosaibi, CEO of Khaleeji Bank, expressed the bank’s pride in participating in this national initiative, which confirms its firm commitment to its national and social responsibility towards the environment and Bahraini society, noting that Tree Week represents a national station for promoting environmental awareness and consolidating a culture of sustainability in society.
He also pointed out that Khaleeji Bank’s initiative to plant a main street in Seef District using modern irrigation systems stems from the bank’s deep belief in the importance of supporting national efforts to enhance green spaces and use innovative techniques in landscaping, stressing that this step reflects the bank’s keenness to be an active partner in building a sustainable green future for future generations.
