The Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club has achieved a new achievement that strengthens its position globally, as the Asian Horse Racing Federation announced the raising of the classification of His Highness the Crown Prince’s Cup for imported horses to the third international level (Group 3), in a step that reflects the continuous development witnessed by the sport thanks to the visions and aspirations of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the country, may God protect and preserve him, and the support and directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may God protect him.
The Asian Horse Racing Federation and the Asian Racing Classification Committee also approved the inclusion of the Ordinary Cup, one of the rounds of the Bahrain International Championship, among the international classified races (Listed Races).
On this occasion, Yousef Osama Buhiji, CEO of the Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club, expressed his pride in the rise of Bahraini races to advanced international levels, stressing that the fact that His Highness the Crown Prince Cup received the third international classification reflects the high reputation that the race has acquired over the past years and the organizational successes that qualified it for this prestigious classification.
Buhiji praised the great role of His Highness Sheikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Minister of the Prime Minister’s Court and Chairman of the Supreme Authority of the Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club, in developing Bahraini horse racing according to a strategic vision aimed at making it a competitive destination on the global level.
Raising the classification of His Highness the Crown Prince Cup to the third international level (Group 3) and adopting the Ordinary Cup as part of (Listed Races) is an extension of the successive achievements of Bahraini races, after upgrading the Cup of His Majesty the King, the Bahrain International Cup, and the cup races of His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, bringing the number of Bahraini races with international classification to seven races.
The Crown Prince Cup race for imported horses will be held within the Crown Prince Cup Festival on January 29 and 30, 2026, after expanding its program to 16 races over two days.
