The Moroccan national team achieved historic numbers after it succeeded in securing its place in the final of the Youth World Cup currently being held in Chile.
The Moroccan national team succeeded in achieving victory over France, 5-4, via penalty kicks, in the match that brought them together in the semi-finals, noting that the original and extra time of the match ended in a positive draw, 1-1.
This is the first time in history that the Moroccan national team has succeeded in qualifying for the Youth World Cup. The Atlas Cubs are also the second Arab team to have succeeded in snatching a ticket to the final of the Youth World Cup after Qatar in 1981. It has also become the third African team to qualify for the final of the Youth World Cup after Nigeria and Ghana.
The Moroccan youth national team completed the Moroccan football boom after the first team achieved fourth place in the 2022 World Cup, which was held in Qatar.
For his part, Othman Maama, the Moroccan national team player who won the best player award in the France match, said that he and his teammates will do his best to achieve the dream of winning the title.
Maama added in statements to the official website of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA): “I am very happy with my team’s performance. We did not give up at any moment, despite the difficulty of the tournament. We once again showed the beautiful face of Morocco, and I hope the audience will be happy with that. The emotions here are very great, and I will stop talking before I start crying. I am playing for my team, my country, and my country, and for the sake of everyone.
