A question was received from the Egyptian Fatwa House about a legal ruqyah for the evil eye, envy, and witchcraft. In this context, Dr. Mahmoud Shalabi, Secretary of the Fatwa at the Egyptian Fatwa House, answered via a live broadcast, explaining that the legal ruqyah is one of the most important legal means of protection against the evil eye, envy, and witchcraft, pointing to the necessity of a person’s belief that God is the one who is beneficial and the harmful, and not to pin all his problems on magic or envy alone.
A legal ruqyah against the evil eye, envy and magic
Regarding a legal ruqyah for the evil eye, envy, and witchcraft, Shalabi explained that anyone who suspects the existence of witchcraft or envy must first search for the real causes of his problems, whether physical illness, marital or family problems, and resort to scientific treatment or practical advice before relying on ruqyah alone.

Regarding the legal ruqyah written in full PDF, the legal ruqyah is available in PDF format, in order to facilitate reading it and benefiting from it on a daily basis. It includes the most important verses and supplications derived from the Holy Qur’an and the Sunnah of the Prophet, including:
- Ayat al-Kursi
- The last two verses of Surat Al-Baqarah
- Surat Al-Fatihah, Al-Mu’awwidhatain, and Surat Al-Ikhlas
- It is also recommended to recite the daily dhikr: “I fortified myself with the Living One who never dies, and I repelled evil from me without any power or strength except with God, the Most High, the Great.”

Regarding the legal ruqyah against the evil eye, envy, and diseases, the Egyptian Fatwa House stated that the legal ruqyah protects a person from the evil eye, envy, and diseases if it is recited with sincere intention and trust in God, and this includes:
- Reading Surahs Al-Fatihah, Al-Baqarah, Al-Imran, Al-A’raf, Al-Nisa’, Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, and Al-Nas
- Praying for recovery from all harm, disease, and evil of envious people
- Asking forgiveness, prayer, and fortifying oneself with remembrance
The Fatwa Secretary emphasized that ruqyah does not replace medical treatment, but rather complements spiritual protection while taking into account legal and scientific reasons.

The original legal ruqyah
As for the original legal ruqyah, it is based on the Holy Qur’an and the Sunnah of the Prophet, and includes:
- Surah Al-Fatihah
- Ayat al-Kursi
- Surahs Al-Ikhlas, Al-Muawwidhatain, Al-Falaq and Al-Nas
- “In the name of God, I perform ruqyah for you from everything that harms you, from the evil of every soul or envious eye.”
- “Remove misfortune, Lord of people, and heal, You are the Healer. There is no cure except Your healing, a cure that leaves no sickness.”
- “O God, bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad as you blessed Abraham.”
- One must be careful to read with the intention of trusting in God and trusting in His ability to preserve and heal.

Sharia ruqyah on water for the evil eye, envy and magic
As for the legal ruqyah on water for the evil eye, envy and magic, the ruqyah can be read on water or Zamzam water, then:
- Drink water or bathe with it to obtain blessing and protection
- Read the ruqyah on olive oil and body fat, considering the olive tree blessed
- Repeatedly reading Surat Al-Baqarah, Al-Mu’awwidha, and Ayat Al-Kursi
- It was reported that the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, recommended reciting al-Mu’awwidha before sleeping and performing ruqyah on the soul and hands to fortify the body and soul.
