The Grand Imam, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders, received today, Thursday, at the Al-Azhar Sheikh, Ambassador Hamad Obaid Al-Zaabi, the new UAE Ambassador to Cairo, wishing him sincere success in performing his duties in his second country, Egypt.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Grand Imam stressed the depth of the relations between Al-Azhar and the United Arab Emirates, its wise leadership and its brotherly people, stressing his pride in the relationship that links him with his brother, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, who has spared no effort in supporting the mission of Al-Azhar, and his efforts with Al-Azhar have contributed to the launch of many international humanitarian and cultural projects and initiatives, praising His Eminence for its approach. The UAE in promoting the values of brotherhood and the culture of positive coexistence, and its relief and humanitarian support for the oppressed Palestinian people; To be an extension of the approach of the founding father of the UAE, and the late Arab sage, Sheikh Zayed, may God have mercy on him and may he rest in peace.
For his part, the Emirati Ambassador expressed his overwhelming happiness to meet His Eminence the Grand Imam, and his country’s appreciation for his great efforts in spreading the true religion and promoting the culture of tolerance and human brotherhood, stressing his happiness in assuming the duties of the Emirati Ambassador to Egypt, this country dear to the hearts of the Emirati people, and his hope that it will be a bridge to strengthen relations that have always been characterized by interdependence and cohesion, stressing that he will seek to strengthen ties. Emirati Al-Azhar University, and will closely follow the development of joint initiatives with Al-Azhar and cooperation efforts to achieve good.
