Beni Suef Youth Centers continue preparations for the Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Festival

Preparatory activities continue in Beni Suef Governorate in preparation for the launch of the fourth edition of the Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Festival, which is being held this year under the slogan “Beni Suef, the Capital of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants,” in implementation of the mandates of Dr. Mohamed Hani Ghoneim, Governor of Beni Suef, and with the follow-up of Hisham Al-Jabali, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and Nasser Ramadan, Undersecretary of the Directorate for Youth Affairs.

Medicinal and aromatic plants festival

The youth centers in a number of villages (Heliyeh – Sharif Pasha – Badhal – Bahbashin – Barut – Al-Nuwairah – Al-Javadoun) witnessed the implementation of awareness seminars on the importance of medicinal and aromatic plants and ways to benefit economically from them, in addition to organizing a field visit to the nursery of aromatic and medicinal plants in the village of Taha Bush, targeting various age groups, within the framework of enhancing community participation and spreading awareness of the role of this sector as a resource. Hisham Al-Jabali, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, explained that these events are part of a series of activities implemented by the Directorate throughout the festival days, and include introductory workshops, exhibitions of natural products, competitions, recreational activities and artistic performances, which reflects the development orientation of the festival and enhances Beni Suef’s position as a national center for medicinal and aromatic plants.

Al-Jabali stressed that this year’s festival is an extension of the successes of previous editions, and embodies the governorate’s vision of achieving sustainable development and supporting value chains related to medicinal and aromatic plants, in addition to empowering youth and women economically and socially by opening new horizons for investment in this promising field.

It is noteworthy that the activities of the fourth edition of the festival are held under the patronage of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, and will be officially launched next Saturday, October 18, with wide participation from ministries, agencies, universities, and local and international organizations concerned with the medicinal and aromatic plants sector.
