Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population, met with the Minister of Health of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Fahd Al-Jalajel, and his accompanying delegation. This is on the sidelines of the opening session of the 72nd session of the WHO Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean Region, which Egypt is hosting during the period from 15 to 17 October.
The Minister of Health discusses with his Saudi counterpart the strengthening of joint health cooperation and the localization of pharmaceutical industries
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, explained that the meeting discussed ways to enhance joint health cooperation between the two brotherly countries in a number of areas of mutual interest, reflecting the depth of the strategic and historical relations between Egypt and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the health sector.
Abdel Ghaffar indicated that the two sides discussed the prospects of localizing Egyptian pharmaceutical industries in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in light of the scientific, industrial and research capabilities that the two countries possess. Which qualifies them to form a leading regional hub in the field of medicine manufacturing and supplying it to Arab countries.
He added that the meeting discussed joint preparations for the upcoming Hajj season, by establishing health controls and preventive measures that guarantee the safety of Egyptian pilgrims and residents of the Holy Land, and coordinating the efforts of the Egyptian medical teams participating in the Hajj season in cooperation with the Saudi Ministry of Health.
He pointed out that the Deputy Prime Minister reviewed the mechanisms for developing the medical training system in Egypt, the “Egyptian Board,” to unify the standards of training and professional accreditation. This enhances the efficiency of medical personnel and supports the exchange of experiences between the two countries.
