Damascus is interested in Russian wheat supplies… and Moscow is ready to support the reconstruction of Syria

Syrian Finance Minister Muhammad Yusser Barneyah said that his country is ready to give Russia tremendous opportunities to support reconstruction efforts.

Bernieh said in a statement he made to RIA Novosti, on the sidelines of the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in Washington, in response to a question about the opportunities for Russia to support the reconstruction process: The opportunities are enormous.

Bernieh added, in response to a question about the areas in which Russia can provide assistance to Syria: I think all economic sectors.

Syrian Finance Minister Muhammad Yusser Barneyah expressed his confidence in the gradual improvement of relations between Damascus and Moscow.

Damascus is interested in supplies of Russian wheat and medicines

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak stated that Syria has shown interest in supplies of Russian wheat and medicines.

In statements to reporters after the Russian-Syrian talks, Novak said: The Syrian side is interested in supplying wheat, food and medicine, adding that Russia and Syria discussed cooperation in various fields, including tourism.

The Russian Deputy Prime Minister added: We discussed specific projects in the fields of energy, transportation, tourism development, health care, and in the cultural and humanitarian fields. We will discuss all of this in detail, and we are ready to provide support and participate in the reconstruction of Syria.

Russia is ready to continue working in the oil fields in Syria

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak confirmed his country’s readiness to continue working in the oil fields in Syria.

Novak told reporters after the Russian-Syrian talks that Russian companies have been working in the oil fields in Syria for a long time. There are fields that need to be developed, there are other fields that are frozen, and there are new fields. We are also ready to participate.

He noted that Russian companies are also interested in developing transportation infrastructure and rehabilitating the energy sector.

He added: Our companies are interested in using Russian equipment in Syria, and this matter was discussed in the meeting between President Putin and the Syrian President for the Transitional Period, Ahmed Al-Sharaa.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak announced that Russia and Syria agreed to hold a meeting of an intergovernmental committee concerned with developing trade and economic cooperation in the near future.

Novak told reporters after the Russian-Syrian talks, “We agreed to hold a meeting of the intergovernmental committee concerned with developing trade and economic cooperation soon.”
