Engineer Tamer Gabr, Head of the Obour City Development Authority, accompanied by Engineer Hossam Qamar, Vice President of the Agency, and a number of directors of departments concerned with operation and maintenance, conducted an extensive field tour to inspect the city’s lifts, sewage stations, level-reducing stations, and tunnels, to ensure complete readiness to face possible weather fluctuations during the winter season.
This comes within the framework of the directives and interest of the political leadership in preserving the real estate wealth of citizens and public facilities, and in implementation of the assignments of Engineer Ahmed Omran, Vice President of the Urban Communities Authority for the Utilities Sector and Monitoring the Maintenance of Networks and Stations, of the necessity of raising the maximum degree of readiness to receive the winter season. The Obour City Development Authority has intensified its preparations for the rainy season.
Comprehensive follow-up and preparations around the clock
During the tour, periodic maintenance work for sewerage cranes was followed up, ensuring the availability of alternative electrical sources to ensure continued operation in the event of a power outage, in addition to ensuring the readiness of equipment and technical crews for rapid deployment during rainfall, thus limiting potential damage to the main axes, tunnels and city neighbourhoods.
It was also confirmed that all cranes are ready to absorb the expected amounts of rain, as well as the readiness of backup generators and the strategic stock of diesel to ensure continuous operation, and the implementation of periodic and urgent maintenance for all pumps, engines, station components, and cranes according to the specified timetable.

The tour included passing through 6 main cranes in the city, which are: sewage lifter 1 in the Al-Shabab district, sewage lifter 4 in Industrial Zone A, sewage lifter 6 in the sixth district, sewage lifter 7 in the first industrial zone – northern extension, a sewage lifter next to the Dar Misr project in the ninth district with a capacity of 25 thousand m³/day, and a sewage lifter in Beit al-Watan in the seventh district with a capacity of 5 thousand m³/day.
The head of the agency also inspected the water level reduction stations in the Sixth and Seventh Districts, where the efficiency of operation was confirmed to prevent the appearance of any water accumulations in the basements of homes and to preserve the real estate wealth of the city’s residents.
Complete readiness for city tunnels
Regarding the tunnels, it was confirmed that the three tunnel pumps were ready and operating during rainfall. They include: the city’s main tunnel, the Sixth District tunnel, and the Seventh District tunnel, each of which includes two pumps and a 30 KVA generator to ensure continued work in the event of a power outage.
An integrated system of equipment and emergency services
Engineer Tamer Gabr confirmed the continuation of periodic disinfection work for networks of slope lines and rain drains in various neighborhoods, to maintain the efficiency of the system and prevent water accumulation on roads and axes, noting that the agency possesses all the necessary equipment to confront the rain, which includes: fountain hoods, rams, sweeping vehicles, torrential equipment, emergency vehicles, loaders, excavators, and kabota machines.
He added that the agency carries out periodic alignment of equipment to ensure its readiness and full efficiency, as part of a comprehensive plan to raise the efficiency of the drainage system and confront rainwater, stressing that all stations and cranes are operating at full capacity, and ready to deal with any potential emergency, in order to preserve the city’s civilized appearance and the stability of facilities and services for the population.
