Minister of Shura Council and Representatives Affairs, Ghanem Al-Buainain, confirmed that the repetition of some representatives’ talk about the government’s renunciation of its obligations is inaccurate, stressing that the government cannot renounce obligations stipulated in the Constitution, just as the House of Representatives cannot renounce its responsibilities specified by the Constitution.
The Minister explained, in his intervention during yesterday’s session of the House of Representatives, that the issue of establishing special centers for autism spectrum disorder was repeatedly raised in more than one proposal by representatives, as approximately four or five proposals were presented to establish centers in various governorates, indicating that these proposals all revolve around the same direction, which reflects the presence of weakness or absence of prior coordination between representatives when they are presented.
The minister also noted that MP Jalal Kazem had also pointed out the same point during the session, explaining that the repetition of requests reveals a lack of coordination between representatives.
He added that autism centers receive approved financial support within the state’s general budget, as a fixed amount of 1.2 million dinars was allocated to them annually, approved by the House of Representatives, which is allocated to support this category on an ongoing basis.
He also pointed to the efforts of the Ministry of Education that aim to integrate people with disabilities, including those with autism spectrum disorder, into the general educational system whenever the degree of disability allows it.
He stressed that this approach enhances equal education opportunities and protects children from feeling isolated or stigmatized as a result of their separation in separate institutions.
He concluded by emphasizing the government’s full commitment to implementing the provisions of the Social Security Law, which includes people with disabilities, including those with autism spectrum disorder.
He also pointed out that there is a special law for people with disabilities that guarantees them protection and support through effective and approved legislation.
